Mainu Kalita grew up in India and traveled across the country during her childhood because she was an army kid. She moved to the United States in 2010 for work and has embraced the diversity and cultural expansion of immigrant life.
Mainu holds an Engineering Degree from Gauhati University (India) and has pursued a career in the technology industry since her graduation. She currently works at Amazon as a Principal Portfolio Manager helping large customers drive enterprise transformation and digital innovation. She is an Inclusion and Diversity Ambassador and a member of several minority and affinity groups within Amazon including Women Leadership Circle and Black Employee Network. As an Amazon Bar Raiser, Mainu is committed to building a culture of inclusive hiring and eliminating unconscious bias during the hiring process to give every candidate an equal opportunity of landing a job at Amazon.
During her time in Kolkata, India, Mainu actively volunteered for educational programs to support underprivileged children living in slums with limited access to basic amenities such as food, healthcare, and education. Spending time with disadvantaged children and experiencing their resilience and authenticity was gratifying and life-changing that inspired Mainu to contribute to philanthropic ventures to drive change. Mainu is honored to be a part of the Education at Scale Foundation to make a positive impact within the community by enabling equality through education.
